1- Situation:
Transformancy was tasked with developing a Theory of Change to guide the company’s strategic planning phase. This process involved:
- Defining a Vision for Change: Ensuring consensus on the future direction and identifying what is required of us to meet emerging challenges and opportunities.
- Making Assumptions Explicit: Uncovering and understanding the underlying assumptions that shape the change we aim to achieve in the world.
- Analyzing Stakeholders and Influencing Factors: Identifying and assessing the key actors and elements that will impact our ability to drive meaningful change
2- Process
The process began with a concerted effort to build consensus on the Desired Change, engaging all relevant stakeholders to ensure that their perspectives were thoroughly considered. This collaborative approach resulted in a unified vision that encapsulated the collective aspirations and concerns. Once this consensus was reached, we defined the key conditions and factors necessary for the desired change, while also identifying potential challenges and opportunities. This step allowed us to create a robust framework that would guide the successful implementation of the company’s vision.
We then focused on defining the specific contributions, ensuring actions were aligned with the broader goals to maximize our impact. This was followed by a detailed examination of the assumptions underlying the company´s change efforts, clarifying the beliefs and expectations that could influence success. Finally, a comprehensive stakeholder analysis categorized various actors as movers, blockers, or floaters, providing with critical insights into how best to engage support, address resistance, and mitigate risks moving forward.
3- Results
Unified Vision and Stakeholder Alignment: We successfully built a consensus among all stakeholders, establishing a unified vision that accurately reflects the collective goals and concerns. This alignment ensures that everyone is committed to working towards the same objectives.
